Equipping students with imagination and creativity.

By fostering imagination and skill, our Arts program provides students with a powerful voice to share their ideas, emotions, and stories with the world.

Music

Music is at the heart of The Arts at Waverley Christian College, offering a rich tapestry of opportunities for students. From their very first year, students are immersed in classroom music, where they develop foundational skills in listening, singing, and playing instruments, nurturing a lifelong appreciation of music. Our exceptional instrumental music program offers both group and private lessons across a wide range of instruments, supporting students as they build technical skill, confidence, and lifelong appreciation for music in a Christ-centred environment.

As students progress, they can join ensembles such as the String Ensemble, Concert Band, as well as multiple choirs, Chapel Band, and Chapel Worship teams. With abundant opportunities to perform at College and community events, festivals, and competitions, students are encouraged to pursue excellence and use their God-given gifts to glorify God and serve others through the joy of music.

At our Narre Warren South Campus, from Years 5 to 7, students may participate in the College’s orchestra program, progressing from learning a new instrument in Year 5, to growing their skills and ensemble experience in Year 6, and achieving musical independence and readiness for advanced ensembles by Year 7. This structured pathway ensures students build strong technical foundations and confidence as musicians.

Productions

A highlight of the program is the opportunity for students in Years 5-12 to participate in our College production. The production alternates between primary and secondary each year and helps to foster teamwork, creativity, and a sense of community. Throughout all stages, drama encourages students to reflect on and express their Christian faith, using performance to explore values, purpose, and their place in God’s story.

Visual Arts

Visual Arts invites students to explore their creativity and express their faith through a variety of mediums. From beginners to advanced creatives, students are offered opportunities to collaborate on projects for the Annual Exhibition and to develop skills in a supportive environment. Students are encouraged to experiment, take creative risks, and find joy in the process of making art. Visual arts is woven into the core and elective subjects, plus the co-curricular life at the College, helping students to see the beauty of God’s creation, develop their unique talents, and contribute to our vibrant artistic community.

Dance (Wantirna South)

Dance at Waverley Christian College is designed to foster movement, creativity, and a spirit of worship among students. The Steps of Faith Creative Dance Studio (Primary) offers students from Prep to Year 6 instruction in ballet, jazz, and lyrical dance within a supportive, Christ-centred setting. Secondary students can participate in the Dance Club. All programs welcome students of varying abilities, aiming to promote confidence, self-expression, and the development of individual talents for the purpose of praise and service. Participation in performances at College events and community gatherings enhances teamwork, resilience, and a sense of belonging, while encouraging a lasting appreciation of dance.
