Sport
Building fitness, resilience, and character through a Christ-centred sporting program.
Sport at Waverley
Sport and physical education are an important part of student life at Waverley Christian College. All students from Prep to Year 10 study physical education as a core subject, developing fundamental movement skills, teamwork, and a lifelong appreciation for health and fitness. From Year 5 to Year 10, students participate in a regular interschool sporting program, receiving dedicated training and coaching to help them excel and enjoy competition.
Primary students compete in School Sport Victoria (SSV) and Christian Schools Events Network (CSEN) competitions, while secondary students represent the College in CSEN events. Both primary and secondary students also have opportunities to participate in a variety of invitational sporting events throughout the year, further developing their skills, sportsmanship, and sense of community.
The College provides various sports clubs and programs, such as Athletic Development and specific clubs for basketball, soccer, and volleyball. These clubs provide opportunities for students of all abilities to train, compete, and build friendships in a supportive, Christ-centred environment.
Additionally, College House Sporting Competitions are a highlight of the year, fostering school spirit and healthy rivalry across all year levels. Through these programs and events, students are encouraged to pursue excellence, build resilience, and honour God through their participation and teamwork.
